Dancehall artist Assassin has enjoyed a great deal of popularity since featuring on Kanye West's "I'm in It" in 2013. He made another high-profile appearance recently, on Kendrick Lamar's popular "The Blacker the Berry,"and this is how Assassin describes the response to the two tracks.
The response to the Kanye feature and the Kendrick Lamar feature has been incredible. People just really love the vibe and the energy of it."
When he was asked if he had met Kendrick while laying the chorus for "The Blacker the Berry," which was an integral part of the hit album To Pimp a Butterfly, he answered:
No. They sent something to Jamaica, and I did what I did and sent it back."
He also shares that he only met Kanye for the first time one year after Yeezus came out. He spoke more about his experience working with Kanye and Kendrick, being in the studio with Raekwon, and bridging the gap between dancehall and hip-hop.
