The military yesterday discharged 275 persons captured and confined regarding Boko Haram rebellion in Borno State. Two Nigeriens and two Cameroonians were among those discharged.
The Head (Theater Commander) of the counter-revolt operation in the North-East (Operation Lafiya Dole) Maj. Gen. Hassan Umaru unveiled amid the handover of the suspects to the Borno State Government that they were picked from various areas in the state for affirmed contribution in terrorism and insurrection.
He said the military chose to release them after they were “legitimately profiled, screened and cleared,” to rejoin with their families.
Umaru said: “In accordance with the standard of equity, value and reasonableness, we discharge then to their families,” demanding that their detainment was a penance they paid to take peace back to the agitated area.
The Army officer, who tended to a brief function at Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, included: “I am sure that the prisoners will be represetatives to the Nigerian military.”
He uncovered that 142 of the aggregate 275 prisoners were guys, 49 females, 22 under-matured (male) and 50 female kids.
He said eight cases that were criminal in nature will be given over to the Nigerian Police for further examination and conceivable arraignment.

In the interim, four persons were killed by Boko Haram on Thursday night amid an assault on Shuwari Village in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The Chairman of Borno State Emergency Management Agency, Engr. Ahmed Satomi affirmed the assault to our journalist on phone.
Satomi said the aggressors murdered four individuals, plundered and trucked away nourishment things and additionally torched the town.
