In a sharp contrast to the position of its leader, Ali Ndume, who said the 2016 budget cannot be missing, the Senate on Wednesday confirmed that the document is indeed nowhere to be found.
As speculations gained grounds yesterday that the 2016 budget proposal submitted to a joint session of the National Assembly is missing, the Senate and House of Representatives made frantic efforts to dispel the rumors.
While Senate leader Ndume insisted that the budget will be in custody of both Chambers saying "it cannot be stolen, it cannot be missing", Speaker of the House, Hon. Yakubu Dogara said "I thought it was an unbelievable joke. I merely laughed when I first heard about it [rumors of the missing budget]".
However, during plenary today, Senate President Bukola Saraki while reacting to a point of order raised on the budget by Senator Abaribe Eyinnaya, said some senators have been mandated to search for the 'missing' budget.
