Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes

has said pressure is on Wayne Rooney to perform

after Anthony Martial helped the club claim a

point at CSKA Moscow on Wednesday.

Martial, 19, scored his fifth goal for United and his

first in the Champions League following his £36

million transfer from Monaco in the summer.

The France international headed home from

Antonio Valencia's cross on 65 minutes to clinch a

valuable 1-1 draw for United in Group B, leaving

the side in second with three matches to play.

Rooney, meanwhile, struggled to have an impact

on the match, and Scholes is quoted by the Daily

Mirror as telling BT Sport: "Martial is still a young

player, he's 19 years old, he didn't come with the

biggest reputation for being a really big goal

scorer. I think the pressure is still on Wayne.

"When we [United] were at our best we had four

strikers who could come in and score 25-30 goals.

This team now doesn't have that. There is a lot of

pressure on him [Rooney]."

Martial gave away a first-half penalty for handball,

the rebound of which was scored by Seydou

Doumbia to make it 1-0 to CSKA Moscow.

Scholes said: "Anthony Martial didn't let his head

go down, which can happen after the penalty and

he scored a great goal. Then we pushed on and

gave everything and couldn't get the second goal

which was a shame."

The 40-year-old was also unimpressed with

United's attacking playing, adding: "You look at

the United team, there is no quality, no

movement. People are not running. Is it the way

they are told to play?

"It's all safety playing across the pitch. I can't

remember a pass in to Wayne Rooney. There is no

movement.

"You've got midfield players who can run -- Ander

Herrera, Jesse Lingaard, Anthony Martial -- stick

the ball into Rooney and run but there's not one

of them even thinking of running."
