Bobbi Kristina was the only child of late Whitney Houston and her ex-husband Bobby Brown.
She died July 26, 2015 after being in an induced coma for six months following her discovery in a bathtub, unconscious.
Her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, along with his friend, then revealed they had found the 22-year-old unconscious in bath, and he allegedly began CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) before the arrival of paramedics who rushed her into intensive care due to severe brain damage.
Nick was later banned from visiting her family home by her father, who welcomed his seventh child this year, with Alicia Etheredge whom he married in 2012.
In August 2015, Bobbi Kristina’s conservator filed a wrongful death civil lawsuit against Gordon, accusing him of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and transferring money from her account into his own without authorisation.
‘In court today, we finally finished a long journey for justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown. The court agrees with us, by striking Mr. Gordon’s answer that he is legally responsible for her death’, R. David Ware, a lawyer for Brown’s conservator said.
‘The only thing left to prove is the value of her life. We intend to do that. It’s not a criminal case but it doesn’t have to be’, Ware added. ‘We want to legally establish he was responsible for her injuries the proceeded her death and we’ve done that today’, the lawyer also said.
Who is Nick Gordon?
Nick Gordon was formerly introduced to the world as a close family friend who had come to live in the Houston household when he was 12 years old.
In October 2012 however, Bobbi announced her engagement to him in a move that supposedly caused controversy within the family.
And in 2014, the couple revealed they had married on January 9 of that year. Bobby Brown’s lawyer however denied the marriage last year, stating that ‘Bobbi Kristina is not and has never been married to Nick Gordon’.
Similarity of Bobbi’s death to Whitney Houston’s death in 2012
One of the many controversies surrounding Gordon include his link to Houston’s death.
Gordon was reported to be present when the late singer was found unconscious, after she accidentally drowned in a bathtub in Suite 434 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in February 2012.
Houston was buried on February 19, 2012, in Fairview Cemetery, in New Jersey.
What Bobby Brown said about Gordon after his daughter’s death?
In an interview with UK broadcaster Robin Roberts that aired on ABC in June, Brown addressed the fact that Gordon was present when both his ex-wife, Whitney, and their daughter were found unconscious in bathtubs.
‘It’s not a mystery to me, the same thing that happened to my daughter is what happened to Whitney, there is only one person that was around both occasions’, Brown said.
Bobby Brown was married to Whitney for almost 15 years (July 18, 1992 – April 24, 2007).
‘He knows what happened, I don’t know what happened that night but he does’, the R&B singer and actor added.
Meanwhile, Gordon was on the Dr. Phil show in April where he said, ‘It was literally a nightmare all over again’, about discovering his girlfriend unconscious, and how similar the situation was to the death of her mother three years earlier.
Now however, a court hearing on September 16 found Nick Gordon legally responsible in the $50m wrongful death lawsuit over Bobbi Kristina Brown.
