The Senator representing Bayelsa east constituency, Senator Ben Murray Bruce, has sent congratulatory message to Governor Seriake Dickson over his re-election as governor of Bayelsa state.
In his congratulatory message on Twitter, Bruce said: "Congratulations @iamHSDickson. Those who got there through free and fair elections could not use #DoOrDieElections to remove you!"
Dickson, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner of the poll by the INEC REC, after polling 134,998 votes, beating his main contender, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 86,852 votes.
The election was marred by some violence, and Senator Bruce earlier posted photos depicting the violence that was witnessed in certain areas of the state. There were records of deaths and some other cases of people severely injured.
Meanwhile the Senate president, Bukola Saraki took to Twitter in reaction to the violence experienced in Bayelsa earlier today, he said that those who were involved in the dastard acts, will be made to face the wrath of the law.
