Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state is appealing to Nigerians to continue to be patient with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as he leads the country out of a biting recession and financial life-support.


The governor agreed that the current economy of the country is not good enough, but expressed optimism that Buhari has all that is required to move the country forward and away from economic recession.

According to Vanguard, Governor Bello said this in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, after the Eid-el-Kabir prayer at the Felele central praying ground, adding that Kogi is working with the economic blueprint of the federal government as it relates with providing jobs for the youth.

The report quoted the governor as saying that over 100,000 youth and women would be empowered through the line up empowerment programmes of the state government.



He said: “My administration is youth based, we are rolling out this employment scheme as a way of reducing unemployment and to prevent ‘Abuja based politicians’ from using them to cause crises in the state.


“We are doing our best to woo foreign investors to the state and without absolute peace and unity among the people, the state cannot enjoy such opportunity.”

In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Alhaji Abdullahi Baba, said it was imperative for Muslims to embrace good conduct which is the basis of the Eid-el-Kabir.


He charged Muslims to love their neighbours and live in peace with one another.


The Nigerian minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, and speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, also begged Nigerians to always practise the virtues of love and peaceful co-existence.
