Dr. Austin Tam-George, the Rivers state commissioner for Information and Communication, has denied claims that Governor Nyesom Wike and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state mobilised militants to rig the Edo governorship election in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dr. Tam-George who was reacting to claims by Governor Adams Oshiomole that the two governors donated N2 billion for the cause, maintained that Governor Wike has never made such financial donation.
Tam-George disclosed this in a statement made available to NAIJ.com.

He said: “Governor Wike has no links with militants in the region and anywhere else in the country.
“He has only given moral support to the PDP candidate in Edo state to overcome the ineptitude and dysfunction the All Progressives Congress (APC) imposed on the people.”
According to Tam-George, Governor Wike would continue to give moral support to democratic forces not just in the region but across the country to bring better life to Nigerians.
Dr. Tam- George said Governor Wike has called on the people of Edo state to ensure that whenever the election is held they should stand firm in defence of their sovereign right to vote for the PDP.
Governor Adams Oshiomhole had alleged that some governors in the south-south registered about 8,000 militants from their states with the intent to use them to rig the governorship election now shifted to September 28.
The election which was scheduled to hold on Saturday, September 10, was postponed following a security meeting held in Benin, the Edo state capital.
