Many Yoruba films are done using actors’ improvisation a lot

In a recent news report, veteran theatre practitioner Dele Odule reiterated what we all have realised about Yoruba movies; that 70% of their films are not scripted and are just actors improvising.

In his words, ‘It is true that many Yoruba films are not scripted. They are 30 per cent scripted and 70 per cent improvised. It boils down to the way theatre practice started and those who started it before the emergence of theatre scholars who now combine the raw talent with the theory of theatre.’

But anyone that has ever seen a Yoruba film knows that already. Or how can you explain these subtitles?

Betrayed is not a good thing

But the scriptwriter of this movie is who we’ll really like to meet. We just want to tell him something.
