– A fire outbreak has killed an 80-year-old man in Lagos state
– The inferno was started by a boiling ring on Tuesday
An octogenarian identified as Godwin Oyia has lost his life in an inferno at No 5 Aborishade, Lawanson, Surulere, on Tuesday.
Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) has issued a statement, where they report about a distress call at about 10.40am.

Emergency Response team has investigated the case and came to the conclusion that the fire started at the last room on the top floor, where the senior was using a boiling ring.
The fire then spread throughout the house. The man was burnt beyond recognition. The statement reads in part: “The whole of the top floor of the building was completely burnt down.
However, the ground floor was salvaged by the combined efforts of the Agency’s ERT, the Nigeria Red Cross and the Lagos state Fire Service (Isolo division, Alausa division and Ilupeju division).
The dead body was recovered by the Agency Emergency Response Team and handed over to the Nigeria police force.”

Mr. Michael Akindele, the general LASEMA manager, has assured of proper investigation into the incident and called on the state residents to switchi off all electrical appliances when not in use at home or at work.
